Job summary

Justice Resource Institute seeks a Special Education English Teacher for Walden Street School, a residential adolescent program focused on trauma-informed care. The role involves delivering structured English instruction and coordinating with the education team to support student learning.

You will create lesson plans, collaborate with colleagues, and participate in family and team meetings to address academic needs.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed or be eligible to be waived by the MA DESE for Special Education 5-12 and/or Secondary Education licensure.
• Relevant experience with grades 5-12 preferred.
• Knowledge of the relevant content area.
• Maintains valid driver's license; transporting students required.
• Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement structured lesson plans while building a therapeutic rapport with students.
• Collaborate with the Special Education team to provide the best academics for students.
• Attend meetings with family members, collaterals and other teams to address academic needs.
• Help students develop life skills and a sense of self to succeed in their next steps.

Who We Are Looking For: Are you the Special Education English Teacher we have been looking for? In this position, you will be able to convey your passion for helping others with a dynamic team by bringing an energetic and positive approach while working with our students!

Walden Street School is a residential treatment setting for adolescents that specializes in trauma informed care. Walden provides 24-hour comprehensive care including a school on site, a full clinical staff, nursing staff, and direct care staff.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $52,000 to $94,000 per year. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future.

• You will be able to create and implement structured lesson plans while building a therapeutic rapport with our students.
• You will be able to work collaboratively with our Special Education team to provide the best academics for our students.
• You will be able to attend meetings with family members, collaterals and other teams to address any of the student's academic needs.
• You will help students discover what makes them feel competent and valued by working with them to develop important life skills. Your day-to-day work will support students in developing a sense of self and provide them the skills to be successful in their next steps.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must be licensed or be eligible to be waived by the Massachusetts DESE for Special Education Moderate Disabilities 5-12 and/or Secondary Education licensure.
• Relevant experience with grades 5-12 preferred.
• Knowledge of the relevant content area.
• Maintains valid driver's license as transporting students is required.
• Background and driving record checks will be performed.
