Job summary

Qualifications

• Documentation of at least 90 credit hours of approved study in an educationally related field.
• Must hold or be eligible for State of Maine Educational Technician III Certification and CHRC Approval Certificate.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, understanding of instructional process and student needs.
• Knowledge of emergency, health, and safety issues preferred.
• Willing to participate in ongoing in-service training as requested by Administrator/Director.
• Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality of student information as required by law.
• Demonstrated aptitude for fulfilling assigned responsibilities; prior educational experience desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Introduce preplanned learning in consultation with the teacher.
• Assist in devising strategies based on individual student needs.
• Guide independent study and enrichment or remedial work.
• Coach students with functional needs and collect data per student plans.
• Supervise small groups in community-based programs.
• Administer, score and record tests as recommended by the teacher.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and handling classroom tasks.
• Support with playground/recess, bus, study hall, detention and lunch duties.
• Assist with supervision during drills and field trips; provide escort as needed.
