Job summary

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with students is required.
• Bilingual skills are preferred (district top languages include Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali).
• Strong English usage, spelling, and math knowledge expected.
• Ability to type and operate basic office equipment and AV tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in instruction and support for students with varying needs.
• Instruct students in groups or individually and monitor progress.
• Assist in planning lessons and evaluating results with input from teachers.
• Perform tasks like grading papers and preparing teaching materials.
• Provide interpretation/translation if bilingual, for students and families.
• Support personal care needs for students with disabilities as assigned.
• Contribute data for behavior support plans and data collection.
• Implement social skills and behavior plans with crisis prevention strategies.
• Use de-escalation and safety techniques when needed in class settings.
• Develop individualized sensory plans and support self-regulation.
