Job summary

Sonoran Schools in Tucson, AZ seeks an experienced Special Education Coordinator to strengthen its K-12 programs across campuses. You will ensure IDEA compliance, oversee IEP timelines and MET meetings, and coach teachers and case managers.

Based in Tucson, this full-time, in-person role collaborates with school psychologists, SLPs, administrators, and related services staff to support eligible students and facilitate smooth transitions for students aged 16 and older.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, School Psychology, Education, or related field.
• Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate or Arizona administrative/supervisory certification.
• At least 2 years in special education teaching or case management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor IEPs, METs, evaluations, and student records for IDEA compliance.
• Coordinate MET and IEP meetings with required team members and service providers.
• Support Child Find, eligibility, placement, evaluation, and service requirements.
• Coach teachers and case managers on procedures and documentation.
• Assist administrators with IDEA discipline requirements, FBA/BIP, and behavioral supports.
• Coordinate student transitions across grades, campuses, and post-secondary paths for ages 16+.
• Serve as a resource for families regarding special education services.
• Collaborate with campus principals, school psychologists, SLPs, and related service providers.
