Job summary

Sonoran Schools in Tucson, AZ seeks an experienced Special Education Coordinator to lead and strengthen special education programs across our Tucson campuses. This role focuses on compliance, student outcomes, and coaching educators serving students with disabilities.

You will monitor IEPs and METs for accuracy, coordinate meetings, support Child Find and eligibility, and empower teachers with best practices. This is a full-time, in-person leadership position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, School Psychology, Education, or related field.
• Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate or appropriate Arizona administrative or supervisory certification.
• At least 2 years of experience in special education teaching, case management, or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of IDEA, Arizona special education requirements, Child Find, and IEP processes.
• Experience coordinating across multiple campuses is preferred.
• Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Monitor IEPs, MET documentation, evaluations, and student records for accuracy and compliance with IDEA and Arizona timelines.
• Coordinate and facilitate initial and reevaluation MET and IEP meetings, ensuring required team members and service providers are involved.
• Support campus teams with Child Find, eligibility, placement, evaluation, and service requirements.
• Coach and provide ongoing support to special education teachers and case managers on procedures, documentation, and best practices.
• Support administrators with IDEA discipline requirements, Manifestation Determination Reviews, FBAs, BIPs, and positive behavioral supports.
• Coordinate student transitions across grade levels, campuses, and into post-secondary life for students age 16 and older.
• Serve as a responsive and knowledgeable resource for families regarding special education services.
• Partner with campus principals, school psychologists, SLPs, and related service providers to strengthen programs across both campuses.
