Job summary

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the implementation of K-12 Special Education, Gifted & Talented programs and prepare yearly outlines, monthly and quarterly reports for NativeStar, OnePlan, ESEA Section 1114, and Part B Plans.
• Plan programs for referrals, compliance reviews, staff training, parent training and conferencing, testing and assessments, and meetings at various levels.
• Oversee specially designed instruction to meet needs of exceptional students, including instruction in classrooms, homes, hospitals, and institutions.
• Prepare RFPs for programs including related services (speech pathology, audiology, vision, OT, PT, counseling, health services, social work, transportation), eligibility, LRE, placement, and IEPs for SPED and gifted/talented education.
• Monitor programs and evaluate activities for compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines; submit required reports and audit documents.

Requirements

• Valid Arizona Department of Education Standard Professional Mild/Moderate (or Moderate/Severe) Special Education, K-12 Teacher Certificate.

Duties

Coordinate the implementation of K-12 Special Education, Gifted & Talented programs. Prepare yearly instructional outlines, monthly and quarterly reports on current program activities for NativeStar, OnePlan, ESEA Section 1114, and Part B Plans. Plan programs that cover processing of referrals, compliance reviews, staff training, parent training, parent conferencing, testing and assessments, and attending required periodic meetings at various levels. Oversee specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of the exceptional child, including classroom instruction, lesson plans, home instruction and instruction in hospitals and institutions. Prepare RFPs for exceptional programs which includes speech pathology, audiology, vision, occupational therapy, physical therapy, parent and student counseling, psychological services, school health services, social work services in school, transportation, eligibility, LRE, placement, student IEPs for special education and gifted and talented education. Monitor individual programs and evaluate activities to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local guidelines. Submit all required reports and documents as determined by the Bureau of Indian Education and CFR, prepare all documents of ISEP count/audit, ISEP special education audits and any additional reports. Assist with developing and monitoring professional development for the SPED department. Supervision is inherent to the position.

Salary and Benefits
