Job summary

Alcorn School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant for Kossuth Middle School to support certified staff and help meet instructional goals. Under direct supervision, you'll assist students with reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other activities, helping expand inclusion and learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; coursework or tests may be considered.
• Ability to work under supervision with certified staff.
• Experience or ability to assist with reading, language arts, math and basic computer instruction.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in reading, math, and language arts; reinforce skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups.
• Assist with administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Prepare instructional materials and support IE P goals.
• Maintain records documenting student progress.
• Assist with behavior management and classroom safety.
• Supervise lunch, bus duty, playground, and study hall.
• Accompany students on field trips.
• Communicate with parents as requested.
