Responsibilities

  • Work with small groups to reinforce directions or tutor as directed by the teacher.
  • Read to students and listen to their reading.
  • Help students with make-up work.
  • Assist in activities and use of instructional media and materials.
  • Assist students in following directions and in completing tasks.
  • Supervise lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms and other assigned areas.
  • Inventory books, materials and equipment; assist with typing and filing as needed.

JOB GOAL:

Assist the teacher in providing education and instruction to students

Essential Functions
  • Consistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
  • Works with small groups of students, as directed by the teacher, to reinforce directions or tutor in needed areas
  • Listens to students read, and reads to students
  • Helps students with make-up work
  • Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.
  • Assists students in interpreting and following directions of teacher
  • Drills - to reinforce any skill the teacher has taught
  • Alerts teacher to needs of students
  • Assists teacher in checking progress of individualized study projectsSupervises lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms and other assigned activities
  • Reserves instructional media
  • Assists with the physical and health needs of the children
  • Does miscellaneous typing and filing
  • Inventories books, materials and equipment
  • Assists when emergencies arise
  • Performs other delegated responsibilities assigned by teacher or administrator
