Job summary

Saginaw Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher Paraprofessional to support a classroom under the supervision of a certified teacher. You will assist with instruction, monitor student behavior, and help with health/hygiene tasks as needed.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 10 lbs, maintain confidentiality, and work in a multi-cultural urban setting. High school diploma or 60 college hours are required; prior experience with special education is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 60 semester hours of credit at an accredited college or university (or) pass the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment Test with a score of 460 or higher.
• Previous experience working with special education students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities under supervision of the teacher.
• Support instructional activities with students under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Assist with health/hygiene needs, including toileting, diaper changes, and related tasks per care plans.
• Confer with the teacher on student progress and coordinate tests/homework.
• Assist in implementing IEP goals and monitor student behavior.
