Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with various disabilities under the guidance of a Special Education teacher. The role includes one-on-one tutoring and reinforcement of learning concepts.

Responsibilities also cover assisting with daily living skills, maintaining records, and participating in IEP-driven activities. The position requires appropriate paraprofessional credentials and CPR readiness as noted in the job description.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from the ISBE.
• 60 semester hours of college credit from an accredited college or university.
• Successful completion of a paraprofessional exam (Work Keys or Parapro).
• Good knowledge of disabilities and basic mathematics; strong English grammar and spelling.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of disabled students under supervision of a Special Education teacher.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring to reinforce learning concepts.
• Assist with daily living skills and personal care as required.
• Maintain written records of student behavior and progress.
