Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or 48 college hours; Paraprofessional Certification (required upon employment).
• Special knowledge: ability to read/write, understand instructions, work with emotionally/physically/mentally impaired students, communicate clearly in writing.
• Experience: background with special needs children or adults preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in daily classroom operations and provide a supportive learning environment.
• Assist with behavior management and medical needs of students.
• Supervise students throughout the workday.
• Assist with feeding students and with student feeding themselves.
• Assist with special toileting needs.
• Monitor students in buses, cafeteria, inclusion classrooms, and hallways.
• Sanitize room and equipment.
• Assist in planning and preparation of instructional materials.
• Work with small groups to reinforce material.
• Follow district customer service standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
