Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks an experienced special education professional to serve as the local district representative for IDEA and 504 processes. You will coordinate IEP and 504 meetings, ensure timelines, translate notices, and collaborate with parents, schools, and ODLSS to implement required services.

The role requires a Bachelor's or Master’s in special education (or Master’s in educational administration), a valid PEL, and at least two years of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in special education or Master’s in educational administration.
• Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) for Special Education or School Support Personnel with supervisory endorsement.
• Two or more years of experience in special education.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state laws regarding delivery of special education.
• Ability to coordinate and communicate with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local school district representative at all required meetings under IDEA and 504.
• Chair IEP and 504 conferences and ensure timely completion of evaluations.
• Coordinate referrals for Full and Individual Evaluation and related services.
• Ensure parental notices and consents are provided in the native language when feasible.
• Train and support staff on IDEA and Section 504 requirements.
• Monitor implementation of IEPs/504 Plans and oversee data entry in student systems.
