Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Case Manager to oversee special education services under IDEA and Section 504. You will coordinate IEP/504 meetings, ensure timelines, and act as the district representative, working with families and school staff to implement individualized plans across the district.

You will need a PEL in special education or supervisory endorsement, and at least two years of experience in special education, with strong knowledge of federal/state laws and CPS resources.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in special education or a Master’s degree in educational administration.
• A valid Professional Educator License (PEL) in Special Education (PK–Age 21) or School Support Personnel with supervisory endorsement.
• Two or more years of experience in special education.
• Expertise in special education curriculum and service provision.
• Knowledge of general education curriculum.
• Understanding of diverse students' needs from varied language/cultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws/regulations for special education.
• Knowledge of CPS resources and MTSS/RTI.
• Ability to collaborate with administrators, staff, parents, and community partners.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the local district representative at required IDEA/504 meetings.
• Chair IEP/504 conferences and act as District Representative.
• Ensure timelines for IEP/504 and evaluations are met.
• Coordinate all referrals for FIE and related assessments within 60 school days.
• Finalize IEP/504 plans and provide copies to parents/guardians.
• Enter student data in CPS systems in a timely manner.
• Arrange services per IEP and coordinate with ODLSS for necessary placements.
• Oversee implementation of IEPs/504s with the principal and staff.
• Train staff on IDEA and Section 504 requirements and participate in professional development.
