Job summary

Lamar County School District is seeking a SPECIAL EDUCATION PERSONAL CARE ASSISTANT to support individual students with special needs within our classrooms. The role involves maintaining a safe learning environment and assisting with basic daily care during the school day.

Under supervision, the assistant will support the teacher with therapy, feeding, toileting and mobility tasks, while ensuring confidentiality and ethical conduct.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Previous work experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining appropriate classroom environment and safety for students.
• Assist with toileting, feeding, mobility, and basic human functions as needed.
• Collaborate with supervising teachers to monitor therapy, medication, or special treatments.
