Job summary

Laurel Hall, part of Meritus Health, is hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional - Behavior Specialist for a Frederick, MD location. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, supporting students with special needs and assisting teachers with instruction and behavior management.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, experience with children with special needs, a valid driver's license, and CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with special needs.
• Valid driver's license.
• Current BLS (CPR) and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assist students throughout the school day.
• Support teachers with classroom instruction and daily activities.
• Model appropriate behavior and responsible use of technology.
• Implement behavior management strategies and interventions.
• Complete required documentation and behavioral data collection accurately and timely.
• Provide instructional support under the direction of classroom teachers.
• Interact with students in a positive, supportive, and professional manner.
• Utilize approved de-escalation and intervention techniques when necessary.
• Maintain professional boundaries with students, families, and staff.
• Attend team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
• Ensure continuous student supervision and maintain dependable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
