Job summary

Regional School Unit #4 seeks a qualified Special Education Resource/Behavior Room Teacher to support Oak Hill Middle School students in Sabattus, Maine. The position requires State of Maine certification, with salary based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Oak Hill Middle School serves 5th–8th grade students; benefits are excellent and the role reports to the Special Education Director. Duties include planning, instruction adaptation, and progress monitoring.

Qualifications

• BA degree in Education with experience in Special Education preferred.
• Valid teaching certificate and endorsements required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students in Special Education Resource/Behavior Room.
• Plan instruction and adapt education program to meet students' needs.
• Maintain classroom organization and presentation; encourage good citizenship.
• Instruct individuals and groups in Special Ed skill areas.
• Monitor student progress inside and outside the resource room.
• Modify curriculum as needed to support learning goals.
• Maintain contact with parents of students.
• Prepare report cards, IEP forms, and classroom records.
• Participate in weekly Special Ed Committee Meetings and admin testing.

Regional School Unit #4 is seeking a qualified, motivated, patient individual to fill an open Special Education Resource/Behavior Room Teacher position supporting students at Oak Hill Middle School. Oak Hill Middle School houses our 5th - 8th grade students. Must be State of Maine certified.

REPORTS TO:

Special Education Director

JOB GOAL:

Supervises students. Responsible for planning instruction and/or adaptation of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned

• Builds trust and confidence with students.
• Plans curriculum, lessons, and special ed programs and teaching methods.
• Maintains the physical environment of the classroom for organization and presentation purposes. Encourages good citizenship.
• Instructs individuals and groups on Special Ed skill areas.
• Monitors student progress in and outside resource room.
• Modifies curriculum.
• Maintains contact with parents of students.
• Evaluates student progress based on work output and observation, determines goals, objectives and directions.
• Prepares report cards, education records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other forms.
• Participates in weekly building Special Ed Committee Meetings.
• Administers testing evaluations.
