Job summary

Robbinsdale Area Schools' Northport Elementary School is seeking a Special Education Assistant for the WAVE program. Seven hours daily, 6.5 paid hours plus 30 minutes unpaid lunch, $24.03/hour with benefits.

The position supports students with disabilities in a structured, predictable setting. Responsibilities include supervision and instructional support, clerical tasks for teachers, small-group work, crisis assistance, and physical handling as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of college credits or an associate's degree or higher.
• Passing ParaPro or Paraeducator Assessment may be required.
• Experience with students who have cognitive/physical disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing supervision and instruction to students with disabilities.
• Provides clerical and organizational support to special education teachers as needed.
• Works with individuals and/or small groups when activities are presented by teachers.
• Provides support for students in crisis.
• Willingness to lift, carry and physically manage as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned by teacher or principal.
