Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) is hiring an assistant teacher to support K-12 students with special needs in in-district classrooms and standalone schools. You will work in small groups, collaborate with teachers, and help implement SESI’s PBIS framework CASE while tracking student progress.

Starting pay is USD 18.50 per hour. The role emphasizes diverse student backgrounds, data-driven instruction, and strong teamwork within SESI’s nationwide network.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting preferred.
• Knowledge of PBIS or related behavior support approaches is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with a diverse group of students from varying developmental, cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Lead small group instruction implementing the SESI academic rotational model.
• Partner with the teacher in providing customized behavior and academic support and conducting formal and informal assessments.
• Assist the teacher with large group activities, grading work, guiding independent study or enrichment activities.
• Utilize behavior support and intervention strategies.
• Implement de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint if necessary to maintain student safety.
• Support the creation and implementation of daily plans.
• Support, document, and track student growth toward academic, social, and emotional goals.
