Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support students with diverse needs in classroom settings. You will assist in implementing IEP objectives, monitor student progress, and collaborate with teachers to provide a safe, inclusive learning environment.

The role involves adapting activities, maintaining records, and coordinating with staff to meet individual educational programs. A high school diploma and PESB paraeducator credentials are required or achievable

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, PESB paraeducator assessment or higher education credits.
Associate degree or higher preferred.
Experience with children is desirable.
Ability to follow supervision and implement IEP objectives.

Responsibilities

Assist in supervising and instructing special needs students in regular or self-contained classrooms.
Implement IEP objectives under teacher direction and monitor student progress.
Administer first aid and assist with medical needs as required.
Support students with personal care needs to enable participation in activities.
Attend meetings and communicate student progress to teachers and parents.
