Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will assist in implementing IEP objectives, adapt activities, monitor behavior, and participate in IEP meetings.

The role involves collaboration with teachers and parents, providing information on student progress, and ensuring a safe, inclusive learning environment across different school settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with one of the enumerated options (per Education section).
• Ability to follow safety practices, assist in instruction, and monitor student progress.
• Experience with children and ability to work in various classroom settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities and materials to include all students.
• Assist teacher in evaluating student progress and organizing individual needs.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance as required.
• Support students with personal care needs as needed to participate in school.
• Attend meetings and share information about student progress.
• Communicate with teachers and parents about student progress.
• Implement behavioral plans and reinforce instructional objectives.
• Instruct students in activities to reinforce goals and remediation.
• Maintain student files and materials for reliable information.
• Monitor students in various school environments for safety.
