Job summary

Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant at Sanford Middle School to support students with disabilities and assist in delivering individualized instructional activities. You will help promote independence, social inclusion, and self-advocacy while coordinating with licensed staff to implement IEP goals.

The role involves monitoring behavior, maintaining records, and assisting with daily routines, transportation, and classroom setup, within a collaborative school

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
• ParaPro or 60 college credits in Education/Behavioral Sciences or related field preferred.
• Two years of paid experience working with children or equivalent.
• Equivalent education/training considered by HR.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities in learning activities with individualized lessons.
• Support inclusion, independence, and self-advocacy skills.
• Monitor student progress and maintain records of behavior and academics.
• Provide assistance with daily routines, meals, medications, and transitions.
