Job summary

Barrington Public Schools in Barrington, RI, is seeking a Teacher Assistant- Special Education II to provide 1:1 instructional and behavioral support under certified staff supervision.

The successful candidate will assist students with disabilities in daily activities, collaborate with teachers and related service providers, and maintain CPI certification while upholding district policies and professional standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and completion of RI-DOE TA pre-employment training or approved exceptions.
• Must meet one of: ParaPro, 2 years of college, or an associate degree or higher.
• CPI certification to be completed upon hiring.

Responsibilities

• Communicates high and clear expectations for students.
• Fosters independence and grit in all learners.
• Implements instructional and physical supports and behavior intervention strategies as directed by the Case Manager or related service providers.
• Assists students with daily living skills and personal care tasks.
• Collects skill acquisition data and maintains CPI certification.
• Collaborates with general education and special education staff to address strengths and needs of students with disabilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
