Job summary

LABBB Collaborative in Lexington, MA seeks a Special Education Teacher Assistant to support students with moderate intellectual and neurological disorders in a multi-grade setting at Lexington High School. The role involves direct instruction, assistive communication devices, and collaboration with licensed staff.

Responsibilities include aiding arrival/departure, implementing IEPs and behavior plans, and supporting students' independence and social skills across settings.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with children, young adults, or in human services is desirable.
  • Willingness to work with students with various disabilities focusing on social-emotional needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with arrival and departure of students.
  • Support inclusion by coordinating with teachers and staff.
  • Implement data-driven, culturally responsive instruction under supervision.
  • Follow assigned schedules and adapt to program location changes.
  • Prepare instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
  • Support development of independence, social awareness, language and academic skills.
  • Collect and share student data with the team.
  • Utilize adaptive equipment as needed.
  • Communicate significant events to supervision promptly.
  • Uphold LABBB’s mission, policies and safety standards.
  • Supervise students during meals and community activities.
  • Assist with medication delegation training when required.
