Job summary

Albuquerque School of Excellence is seeking an Education Assistant at the New ASE West Location to support certified staff in classrooms with students who have special needs.

You will help reinforce reading, math, and other skills, work with students individually and in small groups, and assist with assessments and materials preparation. Travel between schools may be required as part of the role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; PRAXIS or equivalent as required by NMPED for Level 3 Education Assistant.
• Experience with special needs children desirable.
• Ability to document student progress and communicate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned students in reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer instruction.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Prepare classroom materials and reinforce instructional skills per student needs.
• Keep records to document student learning and performance.
• Support behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
• Supervise students in non-instructional areas and during field trips.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement in education.
• Support inclusion and IEP objectives for students with special needs.
