Job summary

Albuquerque School of Excellence is seeking an Education Assistant at the ASE-East location to support certified staff in classrooms with students who have special needs. The role involves reinforcing reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer skills, and helping with lesson delivery and assessments.

The position includes assisting in daily living activities, supervising lunch and play areas, and participating in IEP processes to maximize student inclusion and achievement.

Qualifications

• Must be able to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals in a school setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, math, and computer skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Prepare materials and strategies to reinforce instructional content.
• Document student learning and performance records.
• Support classroom behavior management to keep a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise assigned students during lunch, bus duty, playground, and study halls.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to support inclusion and IEP objectives.
