Job summary

Midland Independent School District is seeking a Special Education ARD Facilitator to participate in ARD Committee meetings and collaborate with families and staff to develop Individualized Education Programs for students. The role involves assisting in instructional planning, selecting accommodations, and assessing annual progress, while upholding district policies.

The facilitator will also support staff through orientation, maintain confidentiality, and ensure compliance with FERPA and HIPAA

Job Description
Essential Functions
Instructional Management
  1. Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
  2. Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP through the ARD Committee process for each student assigned.
  3. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements.
  4. Assist in the selection of appropriate instructional accommodations and supplemental aids as necessary.
  5. Assess the progress of students on an annual basis.
  6. Assume responsibility for duties.
Personnel Management
  1. Assist in orienting new instructional staff in the ARD process.
  2. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
School/Community Relations
  1. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
  2. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  3. Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
  1. Participate in the district professional development program.
  2. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
  3. Observe professional and ethical standards in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency code of ethics.
Policy Implementation
  1. Keep informed of and comply with federal state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  2. Assume responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and other documents required.
  3. Attend and participate in compliance meetings and activities.
Other Duties
  1. Perform such duties as may be assigned or as may be necessary for job effectiveness.
Qualification Requirements
  1. Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area.
  2. Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Educational Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation.
  3. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  4. Ability to work well with a diverse population.
Physical Demands

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.

Work Environment

The environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress. Occasionally required to travel to facilities within the district.
