Job summary

Everman ISD seeks an experienced ARD/IEP Coordinator to work with district and campus leaders to coordinate the ARD process, schedule meetings, notify parents, and ensure participation of required personnel. You will assist teachers with IEP development and monitor progress, while coordinating services with parents and providers.

This role requires strong knowledge of ARD procedures, mediation skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree and administrator certification preferred.
  • Valid Texas teaching certification in special education.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, facilitate and participate in ARD meetings and related clerical duties.
  • Assist teachers with development and monitoring of IEPs.
  • Assist parents as needed with questions regarding services and coordinate with staff to ensure delivery of services.
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, evaluation staff to enhance services for students with disabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal/state laws, Commissioner Rules, policies, procedures and district guidelines in assessment and planning for special education services.
  • Maintain professional relationships with supervisors and staff; handle stressful situations professionally.

Job description

Primary Purpose

The purpose of this position is to work with district and campus leaders to coordinate the IEP process on the assigned campus, including scheduling, providing notices to parents of ARD, ensuring the participation of required personnel, conducting IEP meetings in accordance with district procedures, working with district staff to ensure completeness of ARD documents, working with parents and providers to coordinate services, and with evaluation staff where appropriate.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Master's Degree, administrator certification preferred

Valid Texas teacher certification in special education

Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the ARD process, education of special education students
  • Extensive knowledge of mediation and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to conduct instruction and/or attend meetings and professional development
  • Ability to work in under pressure and remain calm, diplomatic when working in stressful situations
Experience
  • Five years teaching experience in special education preferred
  • Campus leadership or administrative role highly preferred.
Major Responsibilities And Duties
  • Coordinate, facilitate and participate in the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee, as directed, to assist with appropriate placing and approved staffing for students according to district guidelines to include communication with parents regarding ARD meetings and all other clerical duties related to maintaining student data files both on campus and in the Esped environment.
  • Assist classroom teachers with the development and monitoring of IEPs.
  • Assist parents as needed with questions regarding services and communicate with all staff as needed to ensure delivery of service.
  • Consult and collaborate with administrators, teachers, evaluation staff, and other relevant individuals to enhance services for students with disabilities.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, Commissioner Rules, policies, procedures and local operational guidelines in assessment, and planning for special education services.
