Job summary

IRVING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students in a functional LIFE environment, under the supervision of a certified teacher and the principal. You will assist with classroom programs, personal care needs, behavior support, and adapting instruction to individual students.

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate is required.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to work well with children with disabilities.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality.
• Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and furnish to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
• Assist teacher in maintaining, copying, transferring confidential folders as required.
• Assist with individual tasks for special needs students including transferring to/from wheelchairs, lifting, positioning, feeding, and bathroom needs.
• Assist in managing behavior of students and crisis intervention.
• Adapt to each student’s medical, physical, communicative, emotional, and safety needs through in-service and teacher direction.
