Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED.
• Have met formal academic assessment, associate’s degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work with children with disabilities; follow verbal and written instructions; communicate effectively; knowledge of general office equipment.
• Experience: Some experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Support: Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays; maintain a neat classroom; assist with inventory and records; support substitute teachers.
• Student Management: Assist students with disabilities including transfers and personal care; monitor behavior; adapt interaction to needs; supervise students during the day.
• Other: Maintain confidentiality; participate in staff development and safety procedures.
