Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Aide to support certified teachers in our classrooms. The role involves assisting with academic, therapeutic, and recreational tasks, supervising small groups, and helping with routine clerical duties.

The position requires the ability to lift and move students, maintain confidentiality, and collaborate with staff to implement individualized instruction.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and 48 college hours or an associate degree.
• Must pass the Work Keys Test as mandated by the Alabama State Department of Education.
• Must meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.

Responsibilities

• Perform academic, therapeutic, and recreational tasks under a certified teacher's supervision.
• Work with small groups to reinforce material and provide individualized support.
• Assist with routine classroom clerical duties and prepare instructional aids.
• Supervise students during lunch, library, and other activities as directed.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical and professional standards.
• Participate in staff development and para-professional training as required.
