Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant-Special Education to support classroom teachers for students with IEPs. This role involves coordinating instructional activities, ensuring a safe learning environment, and assisting with behavioral plans and adaptive equipment usage.

The assistant will maintain confidentiality, participate in professional development, and help with student transitions and documentation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Apps.
• Ability to protect confidentiality of student information (FERPA) and follow policies.
• Ability to work in a team and collaborate effectively with staff and families.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Supports teachers in coordinating instructional programs for students with IEPs.
• Assists in implementing behavioral intervention plans.
• Prepares materials and organizes classroom resources as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality and accurate records of student progress and events.
• Assists with student transitions between classes and supervision.
