Job summary

Spring Independent School District's PONDEROSA Elementary in Houston seeks a Special Education Aide to support the teacher with supervision and instruction for students with special needs.

This 187-day, full-time position reports to the Campus Principal, pays at a non-exempt level (Pay Grade 2), with the starting date immediate. Qualifications include a high school diploma and, ideally, coursework or an Educational Aide II certificate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma from an accredited institution.
• 48 hours of college coursework from an accredited college or university or the requirement to pass Spring ISD's NCLB tests in Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
• Educational Aide II Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparation of instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist teacher in adapting classroom instruction to support and/or reinforce student objectives.
• Assist teacher in preparing/maintaining records/reports required by Federal, State or local laws/regulations.
• Assist teacher in maintaining order and discipline in classroom.
• Assist in individual and small group instruction.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
