Job summary

Culver School is seeking a Paraprofessional/Teaching Assistant in the Special Education program. The role involves reinforcing reading, language arts, math, and computer skills, both individually and in small groups, under the guidance of licensed staff.

You will help administer activities, maintain student records, assist with behavior management, and supervise non-instructional times, including field trips and lunch periods. Experience with diverse learners is valued.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with special needs students is desirable.
• Familiarity with educational software and basic office tools helpful.

Responsibilities

• Assist students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics and computer skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning.
• Assist in administering and correcting classroom exercises and assessments.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and reinforcing skills according to student needs.
• Maintain records documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavior management to keep a safe and orderly environment.
• Supervise students during non-instructional times (lunch, bus, playground, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to foster effective involvement in student education.
• Support students with special needs to maximize inclusion and participation in activities.
• Participate in IEP process as needed.
• Assist with activities of daily living as required to maximize participation.
