Job summary

Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional - Level II to support students with disabilities under the direction of Special Education Teachers. The role covers instruction, routines, and behavior support in classrooms or specialized programs.

The position involves data gathering, implementing IEP interventions, supervising students during meals and transitions, and applying de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe, inclusive learning

Qualifications

• Ability to work as a team member in a school setting.
• Ability to monitor student behavior across environments.
• Ability to implement de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
• Data collection related to student needs and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision, care, and instruction of students with disabilities in regular or specialized settings.
• Assist in implementing plans, interventions, and strategies for academic, social-emotional, and life skills.
• Implement behavioral plans designed by IEP teams for students with behavior disorders.
• Gather data related to student needs and abilities.
• Assist with toileting, feeding and lifting as required.
• Monitor students during lunch, recess, restrooms, hallways, and transitions to maintain safety.
• Utilize ABA or CPI approaches when appropriate to support learning in the least restrictive environment.
