Job summary

Fort Bend ISD in Texas seeks an Aide BSS (Behavior Support Services) to assist teachers in academic, behavioral, social, and self‑care areas for students with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities. You will support IEP documentation and implement behavior plans, while maintaining a safe, engaging classroom environment.

The role includes assisting with personal care services and collaborating with staff to align lessons with the general education curriculum, under teacher guidance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 48 college hours or passing score on the Para Professional Assessment of Knowledge.
• Texas Educational Aide Certification preferred or required to obtain once hired
• De‑Escalation/Restraint Certification preferred or required to obtain once hired (district-provided training)
• Proficient in using Windows OS as well as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing consistent expectations and routines to facilitate a highly structured environment
• Utilize research-based Positive Behavior Support strategies to promote classroom management
• Assist in implementing Behavior Support Services elements as designated by the Program Manager
• Assist in implementing academic/functional lessons for multiple grade levels
• Maintain a collaborative working relationship with students and school personnel
• Collect and analyze data to monitor progress towards IEP goals and objectives
• Assist students with personal care services (may be >50% of the day)
• Prepare and organize instructional materials under the guidance of the teacher
• Contribute to safe and supportive classroom environments
