Job summary

Irving ISD seeks a dedicated Special Education Aide to support the instructional and physical needs of students with disabilities. Under the supervision of a certified teacher, you will assist with self-help, behavior management, and classroom activities, and help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.

The role requires a Paraprofessional certificate and a high school diploma or GED; experience with children with disabilities is preferred.

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and share with appropriate staff.
• Assist in supervising students inside and outside the classroom, including lunch, bus duty, and playground.
• Assist teacher and/or diagnostician with confidential folders as needed.
• Help students with tasks such as transferring, feeding, bathroom needs, or positioning.
• Assist in managing behavior and crisis intervention.
• Adapt to each student's medical, physical, and safety needs under guidance.
• Prepare materials for individuals or small groups under teacher direction.
• Inform teacher of any special needs or problems of students.
• Perform other duties to enhance safety and instructional needs of campus.
