Job summary

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate required
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience working with children with disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality
• Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and furnish to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus duty, playground, and community
• Assist teacher and/or diagnostician in maintaining, copying, transferring confidential folders as required
• Assist special needs students with individual tasks as may be required including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, positioning, feeding, bathroom needs, personal hygiene
• Assist in managing the behavior of students and crisis intervention
• Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's needs
• Work with and/or prepare materials for individual students or small groups to develop skills
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
• Perform other duties that enhance safety, security, and instructional needs of the campus
• Uphold and enforce school rules and policies
• Participate in staff development and meetings
