Job summary

Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District in Norway, Michigan, is seeking an Instructional Aide for the Secondary MoCI Classroom starting 2026-27. Wage is based on the ESP II Master Agreement Pay Scale with a full benefits package including dental and vision.

Position is full-time, union, non-exempt, 181 days during the school year. Qualifications include a high school diploma with 2 years’ paraprofessional experience or approved advanced training; valid driver's license may be required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with at least 2 years of relevant experience as an aide in a day care training program or a special education classroom, or equivalent experience, and be recommended by an administrator who supervised the aide for at least one year.
• Or be a high school graduate with advanced training in a community college or degree-granting institution whose special education instructional aide training program is approved by the Michigan Department of Education.
• Experience or training specific to job assignment (e.g., Sign Language for hearing impaired; Braille for visually impaired).
• Driving may be necessary for this position and requires a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties under the direct supervision of a certified instructor.
• Assist in providing a positive and safe learning atmosphere for students.
• Physically manage, lift and interact with students of varying sizes and abilities as needed.
• Supplement instruction by assisting the teacher with individual or small groups of pupils.
• Reinforce instruction with remedial or drill activities as directed.
• Prepare classroom materials as directed.
• Assist the teacher in preparing reports.
• Maintain confidentiality with respect to student information.
• Must have regular and reliable attendance.
