Job summary

Alvarado ISD Special Services seeks a dedicated Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. You will assist in instructional programs, behavior management, and daily activities under the supervision of the principal and certified teachers.

The role requires meeting state educational aide requirements and strong communication with staff, students, and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree or two years of college coursework preferred.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Support: Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom and assist with inventory and equipment care.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and reports and orient substitutes.
• Student Management: Assist students with disabilities including transfers, lifting, positioning, feeding, and personal care as needed.
• Monitor behavior, intervene in crises, and assist with safety measures.
• Develop motor skills with individuals or small groups under teacher direction.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground times.
• Other: Maintain confidentiality; attend staff development and meetings; follow safety procedures.
