Job summary

CHICOT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in Little Rock, Arkansas, is seeking an Aide - Special Education to support the assigned special education teacher and certified staff in implementing instructional programs and services.

The position is a 9.25-month (184 days) contract, non-exempt, with placement determined by experience within a salary range. Starting date is immediate, with opportunities to contribute to quality desegregated education.

Qualifications

• Completion of 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited institution or Associate Degree, or have passed the ParaPro Praxis Exam (457+).
• Demonstrates competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Typing ability preferred.
• Possesses positive interpersonal relations skills.
• Commitment to confidentiality of records.
• Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.

Responsibilities

• Reinforces instructional activities with students as prescribed.
• Assists in the preparation of lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Assumes responsibility for being prepared to perform instructional duties as prescribed.
• Assists with the physical needs of the student (feeding, toileting, etc.).
• Assists in and/or provides the transportation of students to and from learning sites.
• Learns the curriculum content of the classes in which he/she assists.
• Assists individual children needing special attention.
• Implements behavior management techniques.
• Assists in data collection and in classroom maintenance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
