Job summary

Wa-Nee Community Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant to support classroom instruction and behavior management under supervision of the teacher and school administrators.

Responsibilities include one-to-one or small group instruction, assisting with learning materials, supporting students in inclusive settings, and monitoring confidentiality of student records. Requires good communication and ability to collaborate with staff, students, and families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Paraprofessional Certification or 60 transcribed hours at a post-secondary institution.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one or small group instruction as directed by the teacher.
• Assist in implementing behavior modification plans.
• Direct children in personal management skills.
• Assist special education students in general education classrooms.
• Support students during community outings and classroom field trips.
• Supervise students and maintain classroom routines when the teacher is out.
