Job summary

New York City Department of Education seeks an experienced Professional Development and Training Attorney in the Office of the General Counsel (SECM). The role develops and directs robust training and knowledge management initiatives, including complex materials for the Impartial Hearing Office and the LV et al order, while coordinating with SECM leadership and other NYC agencies.

The successful candidate will deliver trainings, draft legal opinions on novel issues, and ensure CLE certification

Qualifications

Admission to the New York State Bar and at least 1 year of satisfactory US legal experience after admission (or 2–3 years for similar roles).
Experience in creating and delivering legal trainings and knowledge management programs.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver in-person and virtual trainings on complex special education law topics.
Develop training materials and templates to support the LV et al order implementation.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders across OGC leadership, SECM, and NYC agencies to align training with policy goals.
Monitor CLE certification requirements and maintain provider status with NYC Courts and Boards.
Prepare reports on training outcomes and program effectiveness for OGC leadership.
