Job summary

Ardsley School District is seeking a Teaching Assistant at Ardsley Middle School to support a 9:1:3 special class. The position involves one-on-one and small-group instructional support, preparing materials, and assisting with classroom management.

The TA will supervise transitions, lunch, and recess, monitor student progress, and assist with clerical tasks such as grading and attendance. This is a 10-month position with a 4-year probationary period.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid New York State Teaching Assistant certificate or classroom teaching certificate.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the teacher to support lesson planning and preparation.
• Lead or assist with small-group work, remediation, and enrichment.
• Provide targeted support to students with special education or language needs.
• Supervise during non-instructional times (recess, lunch, field trips).
• Assist with grading, data entry, classroom setup and cleanup.
• Help maintain a welcoming and affirming classroom environment.
• Observe students and provide feedback to teachers on academic or behavioral progress.
• Participate in IEP meetings, trainings, and professional development (whenever possible).
• Operate classroom technology and assist with instructional materials preparation.
