Job summary

Northfield Public Schools seeks a Special Ed Educational Assistant-PCA to support students with special needs during extracurricular activities such as sports, dances, and after-school clubs. This is a part-time, temporary role with hours that vary by activity and by the school calendar.

Pay ranges from $22.30 to $23.98 per hour. Benefits are available to employees scheduled to work 20+ hours per week. Start date is 08/31/2026 and anticipated through 06/11/2027; position is open until filled.

Qualifications

• Possess at least two years of college credits (60 credits) through an accredited institution, an associate's or higher degree, or a passing score on an approved assessment demonstrating the ability to assist with instruction in reading/language arts, writing, mathematics, and school readiness.
• Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of child development and behavioral management strategies, skills in building positive rapport with students and adapting instruction to individual needs, and the ability to remain calm while managing challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Provide services and support for students with special needs as indicated in Individual Education Plans during extracurricular or nonacademic services such as sports, dances, and after-school clubs.
