Job summary

Kennewick School District is seeking a Substitute Special Services Paraeducator to support Life Skills, Autism, and behavior-related students across district sites. You will work on a flexible schedule, assist with instructional tasks and student supervision, and collaborate with teachers and specialists to ensure a safe learning environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, and readiness for on-site work with students who have significant needs.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to assess and correct safety issues with students.
• Evidence of professional relationships with students, staff and parents.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• First-aid certification or willingness to obtain training promptly.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to Life Skills, Autism, Tier II Behavior and 1-1 students under teacher supervision.
• Follow prescribed data collection, classroom rules and student directives.
• Maintain required paperwork to comply with district regulations.
• Assist with health needs, toileting, transfers and daily care as trained.
• Supervise students during recess and other activities to maintain safety.
