Job description

Richland County School District Two is seeking qualified applicants for the following position:

Special Education Preschool Autism Teacher

Location: North Springs Elementary School

School Year: 2025-2026

General Description:

Under general supervision, provides direct specialized instruction and services to meet the unique needs of students identified as having a disability in accordance with state and federal regulations. Develops and implements the Individual Education Program (IEP) in classroom settings appropriate for the student’s age and developmental level. Responsible for developing lesson plans, adapting materials, and designing activities to help students with disabilities develop academic, behavioral, and social skills to meet their IEP goals. Monitors student progress and maintains special education records in compliance with guidelines.

Job Requirements:
Knowledge:
  • Understanding of policies, procedures, and activities related to the school district and special education.
  • Knowledge of classroom instruction, motivating students, and maintaining appropriate behavior.
  • Experience in developing IEPs, progress monitoring, and creating effective lesson plans and activities.
  • Familiarity with record-keeping, confidentiality, and relevant technology.
  • Understanding of human development, behavioral characteristics, and special education principles.
  • Proficiency with office equipment and clerical functions.
Skills/Effort:
  • Ability to instruct students effectively and develop tailored instructional plans.
  • Supervise and evaluate support staff and classroom helpers.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Identify and address student academic and behavioral issues.
  • Maintain records and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
