Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Paraeducator – Special Education for the CSP program at Joppatowne Elementary School. The role supports instructional activities and assists students with disabilities under teacher guidance.

Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans with individuals or small groups, data collection, and assisting with IEP/IFSP goals, behavior support, and basic personal care tasks as needed. A HS diploma or GED plus further credentials are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or 48 college credits or passing paraprofessional exams required.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform restraint techniques when trained.
• Ability to lift and transfer students up to 40 pounds.
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to students during instruction.
• Implement teacher lesson plans with individuals or small groups.
• Work under teacher direction to provide instruction to students.
• Assist with data collection, testing, and student assessment.
• Assist with IEP/IFSP implementation for students with special needs.
• Monitor behavior and implement behavioral strategies and intervention plans.
• Assist with personal care needs, including lifting, transferring, feeding, toileting, and restraint as required.
• Prepare instructional materials for students.
• Assist with school-wide duties and coverage.
