Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Paraeducator – Special Education at Edgewood High School to support instructional programs and the personal needs of students. This full-time ten-month position assists with instructional activities, data collection, and implementing IEP/IFSP plans.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with additional college credits or credentials. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills are essential, and training in restraint techniques may be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate of arts degree or higher or 48 college credits with grade C or higher.
• Pass paraprofessional exam options (ParaPro 455+, ParaPathways 5757) or Foundations of Classroom Support/Instruction with required scores.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to students during instruction.
• Implements teacher lesson plans with individuals or small groups.
• Works under teacher supervision to provide instruction.
• Assists with data collection, testing, and student assessment.
• Assists with IEPS/IFSPs for students with special needs.
• Monitors student behavior and implements behavioral plans.
• Assists with personal care needs and lifting/transferring students up to 40 pounds.
• Prepares instructional materials and assists with school duties.
• Participates in professional development and uses digital platforms for instruction.
