Job summary

Centennial School District 28J in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Special Education Teacher/Learning Specialist (Multilingual Preferred) to support student academics and daily living skills through IEP-aligned instruction and collaboration with families.

The role is 1.0 FTE, 192 contract days, 8:00am-4:00pm, with a salary range of $54,641 to $109,282 per year. A $2,000 annual stipend is available for qualified staff.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred: prior job related experience.
• Postgraduate Certificate or higher preferred in Special Education.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Develop a program focused on socialization/communication, life skills, and academics.
• Adapt lessons to meet IEP goals for individual students.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians to support student progress and home goals.
• Assess students' social and academic needs to inform placement and success.
• Direct instructional assistants and volunteers to deliver effective instruction.
• Instruct students with individualized needs to build academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
• Manage student behavior to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Prepare teaching materials and progress reports to document goals and outcomes.

Postgraduate Certificate degree

TSPC Licensure with Special Education endorsement
