Job summary

Hill 35 is seeking a Bus Aide to assist students with disabilities during transportation to and from school. You will help students board and alight, work with the bus driver on lifters, and ensure safety protocols are followed throughout the ride.

You will learn each student's needs, monitor behavior, and communicate with teachers and parents as needed. Flexibility for irregular hours is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and communicate effectively.
• Ability to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment.
• Ability to work well with children with disabilities.
• Ability to work well and cooperatively with the driver of the bus.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities on and off the bus according to their individual needs.
• Cooperate with the bus driver to load and unload students using the bus lift mechanism when they are unable to load or unload using the normal service door route.
• Supervise students as they board and leave bus and cross street.
• Learn and adapt to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
• Manage student behavior and report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator.
• Communicate with teachers and parents on an as needed basis regarding student behavior while on bus.
